Auto-Tune traditionally is used on vocals, although in some cases can be used on certain. There are other pitch correction programs out there that do similar functions: Waves Tune, Waves Tune Real-Time, and Melodyne (which is pitch correction, but not in real time), but Auto-Tune seems to have won the standard for real-time pitch correction.
I will do a shootout soon and post it here. When my friend and i work together, we use melodyne however i bought waves tune. Melodyne's flexibility is incredible but the quality isn't necessarily the better. melodyne is great for rephrasing things but if i wanted to remove a vibrato completely, waves tune would sound a lot more natural. Rather than just test the new Auto-Tune Artist on its own we thought it would be more helpful to measure its performance and capabilities against a rival real time tuning plug-in, the Waves Real-Time Tune. Antares recently released a new addition to their Auto-Tune range called Auto-Tune Artist that replaces the old Auto-Tune Live plug-in.
